Netgear GS605 5-port Gigabit SwitchStrengths: Fast gigabit switch and small footprint Weakness: Large power supply plug and switch heats up if stacking something else (i.e. cable modem) on top of it. This is the most inexpensive gigabit switch I have owned. It is by no mean cheap. It handles the network traffic load nicely when transferring large files between computers. For normal web browsing you will not notice any difference to say a 10/100 switch since your bandwidth is limited by your ISP. I am so far very pleased with the switch in terms of value as well as features.

Netgear GS605 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet SwitchStrengths: Seemless integration into existing 100Mb network Weakness: When stacking devices (as it is designed) heating issues arise When all is said and done, the is by far the greatest value for your money. Thankfully they went for 5 instead of 4 ports knowing that a fifth port would most likely be making a 100Mb connection into the rest of a home network. Obviously a top choice for home network users who already have Netgear equipment. Watch out for heating issues when you stack devices however. Keep this and any other...

5-Port Gigabit RouterStrengths: Excellent 5-port switch that has a sleek, industrial look (part of it is covered by a really striking reflective surface). Works wonderfully for gaming! Weakness: Seems to get a little warm when it's running; however, this isn't very noticeable. I haven't used many other switches, though, so I can't really compare it to other products. I am very happy with my purchase! I was looking for a quality switch, and this seems to fit the bill. Will definitely consider other Netgear products in the future. Device seems good for transferring large amounts of data within your network (streaming video, music, gaming, etc.).

Decent switch, a bit priceyStrengths: small size, attractive design, low packet loss, no noise, low heat Weakness: few ports, high price I found this router to be pretty decent, but a tad expensive. Like many other netgear products, this one has a very attractive and flashy design, and does work quite well, but is priced way too high for my opinion. The only reason I ended up getting this was because amazon had a sale on them for $6.00 after rebates. With that in mind, its the best switch on earth :) Although, if you are paying...

Great Speed, Excellent for the priceStrengths: Ultra Quick speed Weakness: no wireless I was lokoing for a high speed router for transferring huge files across my network. This router fit the bill. Setup is too easy, it's basically plug and play. No wireless, but that's what an access point is for. I experieneced speeds of around 950Mbps across a 50 foot cable. Excellent product.

Good Strong Switch!!Strengths: Comes with feet to stand up on edge! Clean look! No configuration necessary Takes up small amount of space The 1000 base T is extremely fast! Plays well with my router Weakness: Wall jack covers 3 outlets in my power strip Does no good without 1000 BaseT ethernet cards First off, this router is fast. If you are playing network games over a LAN, you need to get this. We have seen our games become much more smooth since we upgraded to this. For the home use, browsing the web and that sort of stuff, you will probably not notice much difference. However, if you transfer any files between computers, that is where you are going to find the biggest difference. I did...

Big aspirations, bad implementationStrengths: Supposedly QoS, but poorly implemented Weakness: Problems with throuput on downstream from Internet The product was put to network a few home computers with Gigabit interface. The spped of LAN has improved (2-3 times compared to FastEthernet). However, this product has huge problems with understanding traffic from Internet (from modem and router). It slowed down my ADSL from 2-3Mbit to about 200kbit (10 times!) I suppose it is problem with implementation of QoS. As a proof of its mediocre...

Netgear GS605Strengths: Great price, simple to use, good build quality (feels solid), stacks. Weakness: As others have mentioned, it does get warm while in use, especially when stacked. But so does every other piece of computer gear I've ever owned, and it works despite the heat, so this is OK. Easy to set up with simple integration into my existing home LAN. I have my Dell computers (with gigabit) wired through it and I'm getting some great speeds between them when transferring large files (digital pictures and movies). I dropped in this switch as a replacement to my existing 10/100 Linksys switch and after a couple seconds of auto-reconfiguration by my computers etc, everything "just...

Netgear GS605Strengths: Gigabit compatable, works great. Weakness: None I have had no problems whatsoever with this switch. It works perfectly, both with Gigabit ethernet and 10/100 ethernet devices. The transfer rate with Gigabit equipment is excellent, approaching the real-world max transfer rate of the standard. Advertisement

SWITCH 5-PORT 10/100/1000MBPS
Strengths: fast ,works great
Weakness: none so far
I got it at a very great price and just received it several days ago. Set it up easily without any problems. I used my old cables, It works at gigabit! I don't need to buy new cables, that's a surprise for me. It also works great with my wireless router. A great hub, I recommend it to everyone.
