A great machine that has some quirksStrengths: Great way to make fresh tasting coffee Weakness: Grind is too coarse, uses too much bean per cup, requires a lot of cleanup This is a great machine, with some quirks. I accept the qwirks because overall it makes good coffee and is kind of fun to use. As others have mentioned, it takes a lot of cleaning, and I have to spend a few minutes each evening rinsing and wiping the individual parts before reloading. It also consumes a lot of bean per brew, mostly because the grind is somewhat coarse. I have thought about replacing the screen on the grinder with something having a finer mesh so the beans would be ground longer before they exit into the filter. As for the coffee being lukewarm, this is true in the beginning, but it actually is mildly heated from below and is warmer later on. Best use is to set the timer for 15 minutes before you want the coffee. The other defect is that the grinder unit tends to get stuck and does not pull out easily sometimes. After 2 years it is getting worse and now is starting to make strange noises. I suspect I will have to replace it soon. But I will buy a new one if it comes to that, I like this machine that much. 95% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Dec 12, 2008 I agree with the above review: it has a lot of quirks, but I do like the coffee it makes. I replaced a broken one with the same model, but in the oiled bronze. However, the bronze finish chips off of the carafe in the dishwasher, so the next time I'd go back to the steel carafe.

Mar 22, 2009 Thanks for the "grease" comment. My grinder has been stuck for quite some time. I tried 3 in 1 oil with limited success. I'll see how other methods work. Other than the stuck grinder (and the cleaning, of course!) This has been a great pot.

Jun 22, 2009 Have had numerous problems with the Cuisinart DGB-600 coffee maker. It leaks, it will not turn on to make coffee. Called Cuisinart customer service and they told me that there is nothing they can do.

Replaces my poor, old MR. COFFEE Grind/BrewStrengths: Great coffee, stays hot, looks beautiful! Weakness: Fingerprints show easily....but nothing major that isn't expected with a grind + brew. Previous posters are complaining about the clean-up process. Since this is replacing an old grind + brew I had for years....I know that is inherent to grind + brew coffee makers. Can't get around it unless someone else cleans it for you! The extensive clean-up process "comes with the territory" so to speak. 93% of readers found this review helpful. Leaks after one year. Same problem TWICEStrengths: Good Coffee, Nice looking, nice functions Weakness: Extra work to clean everyday, leaks, carafe drips when pouring I have had two of these coffee makers over the last three years. It was the most expensive coffee maker I have ever purchased, but I was very happy with the looks and the coffee it made. Unfortunately, after about 1 1/2 years it started to leak, especially when it was set up on a timer over night. Since it was under warranty, Cuisinart sent a replacement. Now two years later I have the same problem and it is getting worse. I have since found complaints of the same issue on other customer reviews. Cuisinart will not replace it again and there is no repair center to send it to. I am happy with its function but its reliability is poor. To compare, I had a medium priced Krups coffeemaker that I sent in for repair and had it returned within a week for just a $25 fee. 92% of readers found this review helpful. Mar 1, 2010 I too have this same problem and need to purchase a new coffee maker soon. I like the grind and brew design and would like to buy something similar. I do not want to try a Cuisinart again, any suggestions?

Apr 9, 2010 I'm on my second unit and, like the first one, it leaks. Same identical problem that renders the unit unusable. I thought it was a quirk on with the first one going bad but now, the second one is also bad.

Cuisinart Grind and Brew DGB-600BC Coffee MakerStrengths: Design, great tasting coffee, programability, grind and brew together, coffee stays hot for hours Weakness: Condensation collects in grinder making it difficult to clean, cleaning included gold filter a little messy This is a great product. If you're a coffee enthusist, it comes highly recommended. Having a carafe over a glass pot that gets cooked is key. You can literally make the coffee and not have your first cup for 2 hours with little if any loss of quality and very little drop of temperature. Having the grinder built in is convenient and it works great. 83% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Cuisinart Grind and Brew DGB-600BC Coffee MakerStrengths: Well constructed, great coffee. Keeps coffee hot and fresh for hours. Weakness: Coffee pours out very slowly from the decanter. Used it over the holidays for all our company. Got lots of compliments on the coffee and the appliance's appearence and design. The stainless steel decanter is very sturdy and keeps the coffee hot and fresh for several hours. 81% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Cuisinart Grind and Brew DGB-600BC Coffee MakerStrengths: auto program, built-in grinder, water filter, permanent filter. Weakness: cup setting for grinder This is a great coffee maker. Grinds and brews beautifully. My only weakness is that there is no setting for the grinder when using small amounts. Its set for a full ten cup of coffee beans. Other than that I would really recomend this product. 79% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Cuisinart Grind and Brew DGB-600BC Coffee MakerStrengths: Great look -- and the carafe keeps coffee hot overnight. Weakness: Brews very weak coffee. Also, condensation builds up in the grinder so you need to dry it out before doing back-to-back pots of coffee. If you like a good bold/strong cup of coffee, this is not the machine for you. It does not grind the beans fine enough to get maximum flavor. Even using more beans than I used to grind for my old 12-cup, the coffee produced was weak and when poured into a clear mug was no darker than iced-tea. Also, this particular model uses a basket style filter rather than a cone filter. This suprised me since I thought that Cuisinart would have done their homework when trying to design a machine aimed at true coffee lovers (based upon the high price?). Instead, I think they made the mistake of trying to get by and appeal to those who didn't want the clutter of a separate grinder, something that looked good (and made them look good), and who didn't mind a weak cup of coffee. Now, I am interested in seeing how their 12-cup brew and serve with the thermal carafe works. It looks like it might have a cone style filter -- and I can grind the beans the way I always have. Of course, if you have the time and energy (weekends?) the best way to go is a good old fashioned French press. 76% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

EXCELLENT COFFEEStrengths: Makes great tasting fresh ground or pre-ground coffee Weakness: Clean-up takes about 2 minutes I love this coffee maker!! I can't believe the negative comments I have seen from some reviewers. It sounds like these people were not using the machine correctly nor treating it properly--I wonder if they read any of the directions and tips??? I did, and I have had absolutely no problems with anything. It also sound like the people were too lazy to wash the parts and were complaining about noise-this is one of the quietest coffeemakers I have had that had a built in grinder-it is a bit noisy for all of 30 seconds when grinding the coffee-and also you have to wash the parts but you have to do that with every coffee maker-what's the big deal???? It sounds like these people are big whiners and lazy at that. If they didn't want to deal with grinds, then they shouldn't have bought a coffee maker that has a grinder in it. I find it wonderful--and most importantly, it makes WONDERFUL COFFEE!! The coffee we have been making tastes like we bought it from Starbucks-the best!!!!!! Also-the people that were complaining about weak coffee obviously did not do the math and calculate the right scoops -they must have flunked in math. Also, you don't have to go by the manufacturer's suggested scoops-this is just a guideline-anyone that knows anything about coffee knows that you have to experiment witn it and adjust according to your own tastes. I found that the 1 1/2 scoops that the manufacturer suggested work great-anyway, I would highly recommend it-don't listen to the whiners!! 75% of readers found this review helpful. Cuisinart Grind and Brew DGB-600BC Coffee MakerStrengths: Looks nice on the counter Weakness: Takes WAY too long to make coffee after all of the daily clean-up required. We hate this expensive coffeemaker. We thought it would save us time, and instead, takes way longer to make coffee in the morning. We are going back to our old coffee pot and separate grinder. Do not buy! 74% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Cuisinart Grind and Brew DGB-600BC Coffee MakerStrengths: Good tasting coffee Weakness: Many: Carafe poors very slow, noisy-especially when sleeping and the grinder starts-see additional comments Messy-need to clean basket and grinder basket. If you don't clean the grinder basket it will clog and then you have a huge water mess on the floor-no alarm system. If you forget to put in the basket or the lid to the carafe it still works......water eveywhere where...no alarm system. 74% of readers found this review helpful. Cuisinart Grind and Brew DGB-600BC Coffee MakerStrengths: Looks nice Weakness: Serious mechanical design flaws, outrageous price, lack of direct help from Cuisinart. Cuisinart Grind and Brew DGB-600BC Coffee MakerStrengths: Looks great, ease of operation and cleanup. Makes wonderful coffee that stays fresh and hot for hours. Weakness: none Looks and works great! We are replacing a Capresso coffeemaker with a glass carafe. The Cuisinart Grind and Brew thermal carafe keeps coffee fresher much longer without the smell of burnt coffee because the thermal carafe keeps coffee hot and not a heating element under the carafe. The Cuisinart has a alert that sounds when the coffee is ready, and then the unit turns itself off. Which we really like.It is easy to program and you can turn the grinder off if you use pre-ground coffee. Comes with a water filter, gold filter and a brush/spoon for your coffee. Excellent coffeemaker! 67% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

I thought it was just me!Strengths: Good looking coffee maker Weakness: Where do I start!! I have had nothing but problems with this coffee maker. Something you dont expect when spending over $100.00 for a coffee maker! I came on this web site to find out what I could have been doing wrong, only to find out that its not me, its the coffee maker. Every complaint I have read is exactly what my problem is with mine. Its a pain in the assss to clean (too many parts), there is never enough coffee for more than one person (if you drink more than 1 cup in the morning), its never hot enough, and the biggest problem is constant leaking from the bottom of the coffee maker (what is that all about!!!) If I hadn't spent so much money on the damn thing, It would be in the garbage and I would be on my way to the store to buy something different. Dont waste your money!! 67% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Cuisinart Grind and Brew DGB-600BC Coffee MakerStrengths: Design, grind & brew feature, programability Weakness: Height will not fit under standard kitchen wall cabinets The stainless steel design is striking and the programable grind and brew feature is great. Cuisinart Grind and Brew DGB-600BC Coffee MakerStrengths: fancy-shmency look that does not mean much Weakness: coffee is barely warm. The grinder is weak and thus leaves lots of coffee small residue in your cup. It's impossible to get the right proportion. Way overpriced. The cleaning is not difficult if you don't clean it well, but is very difficult if you do Listen to me the coffee lovers: DON'T BUY THIS MACHINE. If the coffee actually came out hot it would be as...Strengths: Eye apealing - a real show piece / magnificient coffee flavor and taste / easy operation. Weakness: If you like your coffee piping hot ( like I do ) this is most definitely not the machine for you . the coffee's temperature is way below satisfactory .. I have to microwave every cup for a minute. Cuisinart has almost perfected the best cup of coffee outside of Dunkin Donuts ... To actually achieve this gold standard award they should most definitely figure out a way to bring the coffee's temperature up to a level not requiring 60 seconds in the microwave oven ... THIS SHOULD BE AT THE TOP OF THEIR LIST !! ... great , let me rephrase, outstanding cup of coffee if it was actually hot .. wait, did I purchase an ice coffee maker ? Hmmmm .... 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Sep 17, 2007 Recommend that you warm the carafe before brewing if possible. Obviously, this won't work if you are using the timer feature. In this case, reco keeping the item in a warmer spot prior to brewing.

RIP-OFF: Cuisinart Grind and Brew DGB-600BC Coffee...Strengths: Thermal carafe keeps coffee hot--when you can get the coffee maker to work Weakness: The entire product is weak and inferior--motor quit less than 1.5 years after purchase...read for more details below in comment section I purchased the subject coffee maker as a BIRTHDAY gift for my Mother about a year and a half ago. Thought it would be great due to Cuisinart product brand...WRONG! After a couple of months of use, initially coffee maker started leaking from the bottom, ran all over the counter, then the side button to eject/open coffee filter started sticking, then the coffee grinder would stick and you could not remove it to clean the grinder, finally the motor went out. I contacted Cuisinart by e-mail 3 times and they never bothered to reply to me. Paid over $149 for this product at Dillard's but they only accept returns if product was purchased less than 30 days ago...morale of the story: Cuisinart needs to stick to their core products and if you want to buy junk, just go to Wal-Mart and at least there will not be any pretense as to the fact that you are purchasing junk...if you check on the internet you will finds hundreds of complaints similar to mine about this exact Cuisinart product. WHAT a RIP-OFF! 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Cuisinart Grind and Brew DGB-600BC Coffee MakerStrengths: Grinding whole beans preserves coffee flavor. The insulated carafe keeps coffee hot without having to heat a container that loses heat rapidly & requires additional "cooking" of the coffee. Weakness: More expensive... However, many features make it worth the cost. I would recommend this product to those seeking a grind & brew coffee maker. The insulated carafe makes this product better than most in this category. 44% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Cuisinart Grind and Brew DGB-600BC Coffee MakerStrengths: Good tasting coffee. Auto bean grinder is a real asset. Weakness: Coffee after brewing does not stay hot for longer than 45 minutes. Emptying the grounds from the brass filter is messy. The Cuisinart DGB-600BC is a good looking, very functional coffee maker. It fits nicely under the counter. The amount of coffee needed to make a good cup of coffee is alot (one scoop for each cup). The 10 servings and the smaller setting is a nice touch. Having a charcoal filter makes the water that much better tasting. 38% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

LeakingStrengths: pretty to look at Weakness: lots of cleaning and leaks Thought this would be a good coffee maker based on the name, wrong. The compartment that holds the basket pops open whenever it feels like it pouring coffee all over the counter! Grind & Brew DuddStrengths: Fresh ground coffee, nice timer, insulated carafe. Weakness: Leaks, hard to clean, and grinder basket gets stuck in machine. I liked this machine a lot at first, although I cannot make more than about 6 or 7 cups strong enough with the amount of coffee I like. I dislike having to clean it after each and every use -- it is a consequence of the design. There is no design mechanism to prevent the steam feeding back into the grinder basket so you must remove it and clean it after each use. The lid leaks after about 6 months of use, it sometimes leaks from the water reservoir now as well. The most irritating thing is the grinder basket gets wedged in and cannot be removed, even with thorough cleaning and applying olive oil to the mechanism. Cuisinart said that is just the way it is after a couple of years. Okay machine if you don't mind all the hassle, and just plan on replacing it as soon as the warranty expires. I have owned two and both motors went outStrengths: good coffee Weakness: pain to assemble clean and disassemble every day... In the last 2 years I have owned two of these coffee makers. BOTH have had the motor go berserk and grind for hours until I got home. They start for no reason and won't stop unless you unplug it. Replugging just re-starts the grinding. Both units lasted about 1 year so I think that's too much money for a one year coffee maker regardless of how good the coffee is. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Solution to water dripping all over your countersStrengths: Decent coffee Weakness: Grinder basket is stuck inside coffee maker For those of you having issues with water running all over your countertops, try running some weak vinegar water thru the unit (add about 1/4 cup of white vinegar to the coffee pot, fill with water, pour into reservoir, put filter and pot in place, and brew the vinegar water through the maker. Then brew a potful of plain water through the coffeemaker. This works for me whenever I notice it's leaking water. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Mar 17, 2010 I, too am having problems with water leaking on the couter after about 1 years use. I clean the coffee pot every night before setting up brew for the next day. I have cleaned out the filter area and replaced with a new filter, worked for about 2 days and started leaking again. This is my second Cuisinart Grind and Brew because I do love the fact that I wake up to fresh ground coffee in the morning. However, this product does have its issues. I will try the vinegar and see if that works, if not I think I am going to have to find another coffee pot to buy, maybe a different brand this time

Cuisinart Grind and Brew DGB600BCStrengths: Expensive and lasted 12 month Weakness: This is the worst piece of craftmanship I have ever owned I will NEVER buy another Cuisinart coffee maker of any kind. Cofee all over the counter...just the beginningStrengths: Beautiful design. Coffee tastes good. Weakness: Basket opens while making coffee leaving a mess everywhere, condensation in grinder, can't pour last cup. This was the most expensive coffee maker I ever bought. Did so because I thought it would be well worth it. I can live with leaving the last cup in the pot and condensation in the grinder. When it works well it's great but when things go bad...they go REAL bad. When you get up early in the morning expecting a cup of coffee there is nothing worse than walking into a terrible mess and no coffee. I would never purchase this again. This morning was the last straw. After this morning...I have resigned myself to tossing it and purchasing a new coffee maker! Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

really dislike - concerned might be dangerousStrengths: makes good tasting coffee Weakness: not hot enough, slow pour, retains alot of moisture in the grind chamber (concerned about mold/bacteria) ok so its not easy to use, takes alot of time to clean. We stopped using ours months ago to grind coffee and went back to using grocery store grind. The reason its so hard to clean is that moisture forms in the compartments around the ground coffee grinding chamber. You must clean the entire grind chamber after each making of coffee and we all know that 10 cups of coffee is really 4 cups in our family. We are concerned even when not using the grinder function that the amount of moisture retained could be a breeding area for bacteria and mold. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

DGB-600BCStrengths: Tastes Great Weakness: Great Coffee! This coffee maker brews better tasting coffee than my 17 year old Braun (pre-Gillette). I did not think this possible and was considering a French press or hand drip Melitta. Luckily, my wife bought the Cuisinart for me as a B-Day gift. KCStrengths: Nice looking; good coffee - although a full serving of beans will only produce about 8 cups of good coffee, otherwise too weak. Weakness: Loud grinder; no safety mechanism if all parts are not in place which results in coffee all over the counter; slow pouring: This is an expensive coffee maker that lacks one very basic feature - to stop dripping water if parts aren't in place. The door pops open after grinding (and I thoroughly clean the coffee maker but somewhere there is some build up... who has time for this?). Additionally, once I put the coffeemaker on without the top of the carafe and another time I started the coffee without the top on theh filter basket, both resulting in a huge mess all over the counter. Everything has to be in place for it to work properly. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Cuisinart Grind and Brew DGB-600BC Coffee MakerStrengths: Fresh Coffee that stays hot and does not cook all day on a warmer. Weakness: Coffee pour slow from the Carafe, but I think it is because they are trying to keep the coffee warm inside the stainless steel server by having a smaller opening. I absolutely love this coffee maker. Clean up is not that difficult. You simply dump the grinds in the garbage disposale and rinse everything out. Not a big deal if you want fresh coffee. I have no regrets. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Know what you want befor buying
Strengths: Makes great coffee without the bitterness
Weakness: Thermal caraff pours slowly
If you have had any experience with grind and brews you know that it takes more to clean them. You also know that if you love good coffee the rewards are worth it. Some people mistake bitterness for strong coffee. This machine gives the strength without the bitterness. I find that cleaning right after the brew light goes out and letting the parts dry on my sink rack makes it pretty easy. It takes about a minute. If your gold filter gets to the point of clogging, as someone indicated, I would say you have some serious hygene issues. It does pour slowly but it also keeps your coffee hot for a long time. It is required to restrict the pour spout to retain the heat. This product delivers what it promises.
